How to Use the HTML Block Editor in MultiLipi Visual Editor
Advanced visual editingNo source-file changes required

MultiLipi’s HTML Block Editor gives you structural control over translated webpages directly inside the Visual Editor. Replace existing markup, insert localized banners and calls-to-action, hide blocks for one language, and reuse saved HTML snippets across your workflow.

This is useful when a translated page needs more than a text change—for example, a market-specific promotion, a localized call-to-action, a different section structure, or content that should only appear for one audience. If you are new to this workspace, begin with the MultiLipi Visual Editor guide and the translations editor overview.

What you’ll learn

1Open the HTML Block Editor
2Select the right webpage element
3Navigate the element hierarchy
4Replace existing HTML content
5Insert HTML before or after an element
6Hide blocks for one language
7Create and reuse saved snippets
8Preview, save, and restore safely

1. What is the HTML Block Editor?

Structural control for a specific translated language and page.

The HTML Block Editor is an advanced feature inside MultiLipi’s Visual Editor. Instead of limiting changes to visible copy or CSS, it lets you work with the HTML of a selected element through a dedicated panel.

  • Replace an English section with a fully customized Hindi section.
  • Insert a localized promotional banner before a product description.
  • Add a market-specific CTA after an existing paragraph.
  • Hide a section that is irrelevant to one language audience.
  • Reuse the same promotional markup across multiple translated pages.
FeatureWhat it does
TranslateChanges translated text in the selected content
StyleAdjusts the selected element’s visual presentation
HTML BlockReplaces, inserts, or hides language-specific HTML
Custom CSSApplies CSS-based presentation changes

2. Open the HTML Block Editor

Select a language, target an element, then open its HTML controls.

1
Sign in to the MultiLipi Dashboard, open the relevant website project, and launch the Visual Editor.
2
Select the intended translated language. Review language management or available languages if the language is not configured yet.
3
Hover over the webpage preview and select the exact element you want to customize. MultiLipi may identify it as DIV, H1, P, or SPAN.
4
Choose HTML in the floating toolbar. The Style Editor opens with the HTML Block tab active.

The floating toolbar separates content translation, visual styling, and HTML structure. For presentation-only changes, use Style or follow the custom CSS guide; use HTML when the markup itself must change.

3. Understand the interface

Read the current tag, tabs, hierarchy, and parent scope before editing.

01

Element identification

The selected tag—such as DIV or H1—appears at the top of the panel.

02

Editor tabs

Visual handles styling, HTML Block handles markup, and Custom CSS handles presentation rules.

03

Element hierarchy

A breadcrumb such as html > body > main > div shows the selected element’s location.

04

Parent navigation

Parent moves selection outward to the containing element when you need a broader scope.

4. Understand the HTML editing actions

Choose whether to replace the inside or add markup next to the selection.

4.1 Replace Inner Content (innerHTML)

This replaces the selected element’s children while preserving the outer selected element. It is the right choice for replacing a heading, rebuilding a content block, or creating a different localized presentation.

HTML
<!-- Original selected container -->
<div>
  <h2>Welcome to Our Store</h2>
  <p>Discover our latest products.</p>
</div>

<!-- New inner HTML -->
<h2>Benvenuti nel nostro negozio</h2>
<p>Scopri i nostri ultimi prodotti.</p>

4.2 Insert Before Element

Adds custom markup immediately before the selection without removing its existing content. Use it for localized notices, introductions, campaign banners, or market-specific explanations.

HTML
<div class="localized-banner">
  <p>Special offers for our Italian customers</p>
</div>

4.3 Insert After Element

Adds markup immediately after the selected element. It works well for contact buttons, related content, product recommendations, and localized calls-to-action.

HTML
<div class="localized-cta">
  <a href="/contact/">Contact Our Team</a>
</div>

5. Edit HTML within a translated webpage

Enter valid markup, inspect the result, and save through the supported workflow.

1
Select the heading, paragraph, container, or other element you intend to modify.
2
Open HTML Block from the floating toolbar or the Style Editor tab.
3
Choose Replace Inner Content, Insert Before Element, or Insert After Element.
4
Enter or modify markup in the HTML CONTENT field.
5
Click Preview and inspect typography, spacing, layout, links, and responsive behavior.
6
Click Save HTML, then confirm the saved change remains visible in the page preview.
HTML
<div class="custom-section">
  <h2>Welcome to Our Global Platform</h2>
  <p>
    Explore our products and services
    in your preferred language.
  </p>
</div>

Common elements include headings, paragraphs, containers, spans, emphasis, links, and lists. For terminology that should remain consistent across translations, configure MultiLipi glossary rules rather than duplicating manual HTML changes. For image and visual localization, use the dedicated media translation workflow.

6. Hide a block for a specific language

Remove market-irrelevant content from one translated experience.

The Hide in this language control hides the selected block only for the currently edited language. This can be appropriate for a market-specific offer, unavailable product, or alternate localized introduction.

1
Open the translated webpage in the Visual Editor.
2
Select the element or parent container you want to hide.
3
Open the HTML Block tab.
4
Enable Hide in this language.
5
Save and verify the result in the same language version.

7. Create and manage reusable HTML snippets

Save repeated markup once, then select it from your snippet library.

Reusable HTML Snippets provide a WPCode-style library for repeated banners, notices, CTAs, product blocks, and custom layouts. Open HTML Snippets, then choose + New Snippet or Create First Snippet.

<div class="global-promo">
  <h3>Discover Our Services</h3>
  <p>Explore solutions designed for international businesses.</p>
  <a href="/contact/">Get in Touch</a>
</div>

After saving, return to HTML Block and use Insert Saved Snippet.... The nearby + Manage link reopens snippet management.

8. Customize individual headings and elements

Preserve semantic tags while changing their localized inner markup.

To customize an H1, select the heading itself, confirm the selected tag is H1, choose Replace Inner Content, edit the markup, preview, and save.

9. Preview, save, restore, and dynamic content

Understand how the editing state affects translation and loaded content.

Preview

Inspect nested markup, links, spacing, and layout before saving.

Save HTML

Persist the current modification through the supported editor workflow.

Restore

Use the available restoration action, then verify its exact scope.

10. Best practices for HTML customization

Keep local changes precise, valid, responsive, and safe.

  • Select the smallest element that achieves the intended result.
  • Prefer insertion when original content should remain.
  • Keep tags valid, closed, and correctly nested.
  • Test localized links instead of assuming /contact/ resolves correctly in every language.
  • Avoid untrusted scripts, event handlers, and unknown embed code.
  • Check desktop and mobile viewport controls before saving.
  • Use snippets for repeated structures and glossary rules for repeated terminology.
  • Do not hide critical functionality merely to simplify a localized layout.

For right-to-left layouts, review RTL language support. If visitors should automatically reach a suitable locale, configure the visitor language redirector. For bulk content work, the translation import and export guide may be more efficient than element-by-element HTML edits.

11. Troubleshooting common issues

Diagnose scope, action, syntax, and translation-state problems.

01

The HTML Block tab isn’t showing

Select an editable webpage element, then choose HTML from its floating toolbar or open HTML Block in the Style Editor.

02

Content disappeared after replacement

You likely replaced the children of a parent container. Restore if appropriate, select a smaller element, and retry.

03

Inserted HTML is in the wrong position

Confirm both the Before/After action and the selected target. Parent navigation changes insertion scope.

04

The same heading appears twice

Replace the existing heading’s inner content instead of inserting another heading beside it.

05

Custom HTML looks incorrect

Check syntax, closing tags, existing site CSS, parent dimensions, and responsive viewport behavior.

06

Dynamic content is unavailable

Stop editing, let translation and dynamic loading finish, then start editing again.

07

A reusable snippet is missing

Confirm it was saved in HTML Snippets or + Manage, then reopen Insert Saved Snippet.

08

A hidden block is still visible

Verify the selected container, current language, saved state, and any delayed dynamic rendering.

12. Final HTML Block Editor checklist

A last pass before you finalize a localized HTML change.

Correct translated webpage is open
Intended element and tag are selected
Parent hierarchy and scope are correct
Appropriate editing action is selected
Required child content is preserved
Inserted HTML is in the right position
Language visibility is intentional
Reusable snippets are saved
Markup is valid and safely sourced
Links and buttons work
Desktop and mobile previews look right
Save HTML was used and verified

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers for common HTML Block Editor workflows.

What is the HTML Block Editor in MultiLipi?
It is a Visual Editor feature for replacing or inserting HTML, managing language-specific block visibility, and using reusable snippets on translated webpages.
Do I need coding experience?
Basic HTML knowledge is recommended. Simple edits can use existing markup, but complex replacements require an understanding of valid structure and nesting.
Can I add HTML without removing existing content?
Yes. Use Insert Before Element or Insert After Element instead of Replace Inner Content.
Can I hide a section for one language?
Yes. Select the appropriate block and enable Hide in this language for the current translated page.
Can I create reusable HTML snippets?
Yes. Open HTML Snippets, create and save a snippet, then select it through Insert Saved Snippet in the editor.
Does this change my website’s original source code?
Treat these as MultiLipi-managed translated-page editing operations. The interface does not indicate that changes are written back to your original CMS or source repository.
Why is translation paused while editing?
Pausing keeps the selected content stable. For newly loaded dynamic content, stop editing, allow translation to finish, then start editing again.
